The Interwar Boarding House

As Matlock matured from a Victorian spa destination into a bustling interwar holiday retreat, Robertswood transitioned to welcome the area’s many visitors. In 1927, Lewis and Dorothy Gregory took ownership of the property, re-establishing the grand residence as a highly successful boarding and lodging house. Under their care, the home’s numerous rooms were opened up to tourists and travellers looking to experience the fresh air and scenic views of the Derbyshire Dales, cementing the property’s long-standing legacy of local hospitality.
